Skilled Immigration (Express Entry)

Canada choose skilled immigrants as permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada and take part in Canadian economy. There is a new system to manage how people with skilled work experience apply to immigrate to Canada. It is called Express Entry(EE). Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the EE system through their Provincial Nominee Programs to meet local labour market needs.

The Express Entry system has two steps – "Potential candidates complete an online Express Entry profile" then "The highest-ranking candidates in the pool will be invited to apply for permanent residence". If someone is invited to apply, they will have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residence. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) will process the majority of complete applications (meaning those with all the necessary supporting documents) in six months or less.

Additionally, if you are willing to settle down in Quebec as skilled workers, Quebec has its own rules to do so. Therefore, you must apply to the Quebec government for a certificate of selection (Certificat de sélection du Québec). This shows that Quebec has accepted you as an immigrant. Then you can apply to IRCC for permanent residence.
